Origami Cube Tessellation

Origami Cube Tessellation. We find that the closed helical miura origami are generically rigid to deformations that preserve cylindrical symmetry but are multistable. I will introduce the technique described in my new book (origami new worlds, 2017), through this model as an example.

They are simple to fold, lock together nicely from behind, and can easily be arranged into different configurations. I used tracing paper which made folding a bit difficult but it is a fairly simple model. Some of it is orange and some of it is yellow, that’s because i used two sheets of paper.

Basically, All The Cubes Pull Apart.

Origami tessellations are a technique which makes it possible to create complex, repeating patterns on a plane by folding a single sheet of paper. But now i think i’m able to carry on. This origami tessellation is an experiment in mixing molecules of different sizes in a single model.

But i know a change gonna come, oh yes it will. I would recommend using between 4 and 6 i. 6 for the orb, 3 for attaching the rin.

The original model, the cube tessellation, was found way before me, and for me being first is quite important. How to fold an origami flowering tessellation cubedesigned by brian beitelthis model uses 6 square sheets of paper.

10 Units Are Used Altogether:

Floral origami (2018), modular origami kaleidoscope (2016), modern kusudama origami (2015), and kusudama origami (2014). Tessellations can be folded as standalone models or be used as parts of more complex designs, for example as scales in a figurative model representing an animal or as decoration on origami boxes. This is similar, but not quite identical to origami quilts (modular tessellations).
